Some HistoryIn the fall of 2002, the AIM regional meetings were consolidated in a single national meeting held in New York City. At that time there was a great deal of interest in developing a common licensure verification report form. AIM President, Randall Manning (ME), formed a committee to explore the feasibility of developing a standardized form and appointed Ann Mowery (IA) to be chairman of the committee. The other members of the committee were Margaret Anzalone (MD), Linda Galey (NY), Lyle Kelsey (OK), Nancy Kerr (ID), Rolf Sletten (ND), Kevin Caldwell and Tim Knettler (FSMB).
The Common Verification Committee gathered an extensive amount of data regarding state-to- state licensure verifications and ultimately submitted a list of recommendations to the AIM Board of Directors. During its discussions, the committee found that simply developing a common form would not represent a great deal of progress. The committee concluded that the ideal licensure verification system would be a fully automated web-based system utilizing credit card payments and resulting in nearly instant verifications. The VeriDoc Licensure Verification System is the manifestation of that recommendation. |
Established in 2004VeriDoc went “live” on November 22, 2004. This system has been endorsed by the AIM Board of Directors and currently has contracts with 29 participating state boards processing over 100,000 verifications per year.
This verification system is owned by VeriDoc, Inc - a corporation formed for the specific purpose of operating this system.

How Does VeriDoc Function
VeriDoc is a fully automated web-based license verification system. Each participating licensure board downloads its database to VeriDoc each day. Payment is made by the querying applicant (physician or physician assistant) by credit card at the time the request for verification is made. To utilize VeriDoc, the querying user must simply access the website at www.veridoc.org and complete a quick process:
1) The physician enters his/her identifying information. This triggers a search of the VeriDoc database. In other words, it prompts a search of the data supplied by all the participating states.
2) The physician reviews the licenses that are found in the database and deselects any that should not be sent.
3) The physician selects & confirms the Board(s) to whom the verification reports are to be sent.
4) The physician completes the credit card process and clicks on “send verification(s).”
A licensure verification statement is immediately sent electronically by VeriDoc to the receiving state(s).

How Are Funds Collected & Disbursed
The applicant is billed on a per verification basis, so a physician who seeks verification of four licenses will be billed for each state.* Payment is made by credit card at the time the request for verification is made. If, for example, a particular board wants to collect $20.00 per verification, then VeriDoc will charge the applicant the sum of $37.00 per verification. From that fee, $20.00 will be sent to the state board whose data was used to process the verification. In other words, if state “A’s” data is used for 100 verifications during a given month, then at the end of the month state “A” will receive a check from VeriDoc for $2000.00.
VeriDoc will pay AIM the sum of $1.00 per state-to-state verification processed by VeriDoc.
Note: *The license verification fee is determined by each state board based upon its own requirements.
